Coalstoun Lakes Dam
A project to expand irrigated agriculture.
KAP wants $3.5 million for a feasibility study into the Coalstoun Lakes dam project in the North Burnett region.
State and Federal governments have overlooked the significant water infrastructure project. This is despite its potential to expand irrigated agriculture in a region with the best volcanic soil in Queensland.
The project would involve constructing a dam and infrastructure to use the significant unallocated water in Paradise Dam, about 40 kilometres away.
The project would support hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity through increased production of high value crops, such as peanuts and watermelons.
