Cash Flows to Traeger Communities

A significant cash injection of more than $190,000 will be shared across the Traeger electorate thanks to Rounds 110 and 111 of the Community Gambling Benefit Fund (CGBF). 

Amongst the recipients are the Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council, which has received $30,000 that will be put towards the purchase of new gym equipment, and the Mount Isa Agricultural Show Society, which has received $35,000 to upgrade their trailer.

In what will be a blessing for the organisation, the Queensland Country Women’s Association, Richmond branch has been promised $31,189 to upgrade their kitchenette and restump and level the building.

Other recipients include the Mount Isa Rugby League INC, Cloncurry and District Show Society and the Charters Towers Chamber of Commerce and Mines inc.

Katter’s Australian Party Leader and Member for Traeger Robbie Katter said he was pleased to hear the cash injection would assist across variety of local sectors during these continually trying times.

“With the CGBF grants it is a matter of if you don’t ask, you don’t receive, so it is very important that all community organisations be aware that this pool of funding is available to them and keep their eye out for future rounds,” he said. The next round, a super round with grants up to $100,000 available is accepting applications until 28 February.

“We have so many organisations across Traeger doing great things in their local communities, and this money is there to ensure these groups can undertake upgrades and buy equipment that assists them in their goals.”

The Round 110 & 111 CGBF recipients across the Traeger region include:

  • Charters Towers Chamber of Commerce and Mines inc. – $3,850 to instal tourist information signs
  • Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council – $30,000 to purchase gym equipment
  • Flinders Shire Council – $19,745 to install air-conditioning at Flinders Shire public library
  • Happy Valley Community Kindergarten – $8,510 to upgrade sprinkler system
  • Mount Isa Agricultural Show Society – $35,000 to upgrade trailer
  • Mount Isa Rugby League INC. – $28,261 to upgrade kitchenette and purchase furniture
  • Queensland Country Women’s Association, Richmond Branch – $31,189 to upgrade kitchen, restump and level building
  • Cloncurry and District Show Society – $35,000 to purchase cash registers, equipment and renovate the poultry shed
